In The Galleries: August
by Regina Hackett

Rachel Maxi is best known for palm-size oil paintings of urban landscapes. Trevor Fairbrother's last exhibit as modern art curator at the Seattle Art Museum, "2000 1/2: going forward/looking back," featured 132 of her tiny portraits, each a window on a world.

Although the artist's reception isn't until Aug. 10, 6-9 p.m., Maxi's exhibit of recent work opens today at the Artemis Gallery, 3107 S. Day St., corner of 31st Avenue South and South Day Street. Larger than her usual works, these paintings concentrate on the greens of summer.
